Melaka + Gum
I just got back from Melaka two days ago and the best thing about Malaysia is that whatever you buy, you get to divide it by 2.5 so everything is so much cheaper.
Sadly, I didn't really get a lot of things because my family wanted to do things other than shopping so the all but one of the things I got were semi-edible (gum). I think the only thing I bought that isn't edible is my brand spanking new Captain America t-shirt.
![]() |
Ignore my ugly face |
Speaking of movies, I watched two while in Melaka, I watched The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug on Friday. You should have seen me rushing to watch The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey before I could go and watch the movie. We even went for a midnight show and got back to the hotel around 2 a.m. Now, I really want to rewatch the movie because it was bloody excellent.
I'm actually going out on Boxing Day with my friends and I wanted to watch The Hobbit again but I was outvoted because everyone wanted to watch Frozen. Hmph.
If you can't tell, I'm not a huge Disney fan.
Anyway, the second movie I watched was 47 Ronin. It's a pretty straightforward movie, based on a true story of 47 ronin, but 100% more embellished since the director threw in a dragon, a witch, demons and other supernatural stuff.
And the funniest thing that happened during The Hobbit is that at one part, gigantic spiders were featured and at one point, one of it jumped out of nowhere and it was quite obvious that it was going to happen but my father freaking jumped out of his seat and I still can't stop laughing.
Now to the more important part of this post.
You know how there is this thing where if kids don't really get to eat sweets when they're young, when they grow up, they will become sugar addicts?
That is me, except instead of sweets, I am a gum addict.
In 1992, a gum ban was imposed and the import of chewing gum was halted. So if I want gum, I'll have to wait anywhere from 6 months to a year until I can go back to Melaka and buy as much gum as I want.
I finished my last stick of gum yesterday and it was in those 5 packet things with 12 sticks inside. I finished 8 sticks on the very same day I bought it.
![]() |
My dear darling gum which I have already finished |
The packet still smells really minty.
[cries over lack of gum]
Just to be clear, I don't want the gum ban to be lifted. Mainly because Singaporeans can be quite childish and I imagine the whole sticking-the-gum-anywhere-I-bloody-want thing will still happen and frankly, I like the idea of not having gum everywhere.
Anyway, it is Christmas Eve today and I hope you are all having a wonderful time!

Daiso haul!
*grabs party popper and attempts to pull the string*
How's your life today? Good?
So yesterday, I went to Daiso, because I needed a few things. Half of the items I bought were for crafts and the other half is simply for fun.
Now, if you don't know what Daiso is, Daiso is a Japanese store which sells goods, over 40% of which are imported from China. The best thing about them is that everything (in Singapore at least) is only $2! They achieve these low prices by purchasing all their stuff directly from manufactures in very high volume, which is something Walmart does as well.
Yes, I'm reading off Wikipedia.
They also vary their goods constantly, so customers will keep coming back. This also means that when someone recommends a product from Daiso, the same item may not be there anymore when you go yourself. However, the items I bought are likely to still be there when you go, considering that I have never seen these items vanish from their stores.
The store I went to is the one at Tampines 1. It is tucked away in the corner of the 3rd floor and is near Coffee Bean so if you are trying to find the store, just look for Coffee Bean and make your way there. Once you are there, it is impossible not to see Daiso.
Going by the order I found them, the first item I got was...

Subject combination
Hi guys!
Two updates in a month but they are so far apart, it might as well be one month.
I got my subject combination around two weeks ago and I am very fortunate that I got my first choice.
It might also because I chose literature but practically no one else did because they hate the subject.
So my subject combination is SS/History, Literature, Chemistry and Physics. You all have no idea how glad I was when I realised that I didn't need to take geography. In fact, I am currently having a private party in which I set all my old (and now useless) Geography stuff on fire. It is very calming.
And flammable.
Chemistry is compulsory in my school and then you have to choose whether to take Biology or Physics the next year. I chose to take Physics instead of Biology because this year, there was quite a large amount of focus on Biology and my results just went pfft. So physics it is!
For the secondary 2 2014 batch, I would advise choosing subjects you like and can score well in. Whether you want a class you can enjoy class yourself in or a class you can score easily in is up to you.
For me, I chose my happiness over my marks. My Geography marks are actually better than the rest but I didn't choose it because I knew if I took such a class, I'll end up having a nervous breakdown. I really hate Geography.
The only part I chose marks over happiness was for my Physics and Biology but even then it doesn't really count because I am fine with both but I just don't feel like failing science next year.
According to my tutor, I might find myself failing my maths next year because it needs to have "a strong foundation" which none of my subjects have. If my subjects were buildings, I built them all on the titanic.
Let's just see how everything works out next year.
Ciao!

Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey...stuff
Hello everyone! It is the month of November and that means that the school holidays are coming up, for primary school students that is. Secondary students have already started theirs and have since commenced the ritual of sleeping at 2 am and waking at 10 before going on Tumblr for the rest of the day. Wait, what's that? It's just me? Okay.
So what have I done so far? I watched many movies, mostly on my laptop..

MY EXAMS ARE OVER
Considering the fact it has been quite a while since I had an in depth discussion about my life with you (not that you actually want to know), I shall tell you what has been going on so far.
1) I became a hundred times more obsessed over Benedict Cumberbatch.
I mean, come on! Look at the man!

Gorgeous, need I say more?
2) I became obsessed with Tom Hiddleston.
Now here's the thing: when you've got the Cumbers-bumbers-wumbers (Simon Pegg's words, not mine), Tom Hiddleston is bound to pop up on your Tumblr now and again. They are both equally cute, and handsome and are usually the cause of many fangirls' ovaries exploding into tiny bloody pieces (lovely visual image, I know).
My not-so-healthy obsession with the man is due to the fact I watched Thor, as well as The Avengers, and Loki was literally just UNF in them. I have a problem, and it's that I prefer villains to the heroes themselves. This can be quite a problem when something tragic is going on and I'm just smiling inappropriately simply because the villain looks cute while killing.
Example: In The Avengers, Loki digs out some poor dude's eyeball and all I could think was: Wow, he's cute.
Loki, not the poor guy, I mean.
Since my exams ended last Wednesday, I watched Thor, The Avengers and Star Trek: Into Darkness. I watched 3 and a half movies (the half is because I watched Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides for a short while before going to sleep) in 3 days and while others are certainly capable of watching more movies in the same amount of time, I still find it incredible that I watched so many movies.
4) Speaking of Star Trek: Into Darkness, I became a trekkie and joined other fandoms as well.
Yes, I have joined others to become a trekkie. I don't think STID was that good of a movie and I felt that Star Trek, the first movie of the reboot series, was much better. I've also joined the Marvel fandom and now I'll have to update my Tumblr to show the new fandoms I joined.
5) My Tumblr underwent so many face lifts that I lost count.
Bit of a life lesson here: your Tumblr is YOUR own. Your Tumblr is essentially your life condensed into tiny pictures and gifs and manips and allowing others to dictate what your Tumblr should be like is equivalent of allowing others to dictate what your life should be like.
If you think your Tumblr is awesome, then it is fucking awesome. If you think you have the best Tumblr in the world, then goddamit, you have the best Tumblr in the world.
The fact that I do not ship 10 and Rose (referring to Doctor Who here) but still cried during Doomsday, when SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT 10 disappeared before being able to tell Rose he loved her, but did not cry during STID, when SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT that Captain Kirk died (don't worry, he came back to life) and that I am more attached to him than 10 and Rose, is rather worrying for me.
Not to mention, even though my exam results are fine, I still wanted to have a little weep when I came home (I didn't) and thought I would put Thor on and cry. Let me repeat myself, I wanted to watch Thor. Out of all the sadder movies I could have chosen, I chose Thor, which is essentially a comedy with violence thrown in at the end.
Point proven.
That's about it really, what I've been up to since I last had a nice long time to have a chat over a cup of tea
Always remember, 42 is the answer to Life, the Universe and everything, and you should be fine till I see you next time. Bye!

Dead, dead, dead
I've got 3 days to finish my Welcome To Night Vale episodes before the next one comes out!
Hahaha, just kidding. More like: I have less than two weeks to my EOY exams. Fuck.
Seriously, it is practically the end of the September holidays and I am still chionging homework when everyone else has more or less finished and has started revising.
I am so very, very dead.
So if you are still procrastinating, I suggest you start studying NOW because if you don't, you will die and your mum will kill you before selling you to Hannibal Lecter. He will eat you for dessert.
Bye.

The problems with limited memory space
Remember how I used to complain about my old phone with an astounding memory space of 181MB?
Well, my Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini has a space of 4GB and somehow or another, I have already used it all up.
As I am typing this, there is a notification saying that I can't download Restaurant Story because there is no more space.
I'm starting to suspect that this is because I downloaded a 28 chapter podcast.
But c'mon, it's my Welcome to Night Vale podcast! (Can you believe all 28 chapters are free? Neither can I!)
Wouldn't life be much simpler if our phones had unlimited memory space? Just think about it! All the apps that you want in your phine with no danger of using all of it's memory space.
Alright, I'm going to go and delete more apps to make space for Restaurant Story.

A quick update
Sorry guys.
It's Singapore's 48th birthday today! :D Yeah, that's pretty cool.
This has to be quick because I am not supposed to be on my laptop so a quick update.
I've joined 4 fandoms: Sherlock, Doctor Who, Supernatural and Welcome to Night Vale. This is definitely going to be bad for my health. If you are part of any these fandoms, high 5!
My exams are next week so I am going to study after getting off the laptop.
I've joined a little YouTube group but I'm not going to share which group is that cause I know I have people from school reading my blog.
Hi! *waves*
Ok, I've got to go. Bye!

The problem with love
OK, is there something wrong with the format?
...
Nevermind, it's just me.
Sorry that I haven't been on for quite sometime. My laptop has been confiscated (the world is about to end) so I can't blog that much and I really dislike blogging from my phone because it's irritating.
What about this weather huh? I can barely see in this haze, I'm pretty sure I am going to bump into some poor soul and then we will become friends and start dating and get married...
Yeah, that was a pretty shitty introduction to my little segment today:

Ways my pen name have been misinterpreted
So my friends always start questioning me while is my pen name Moxxie? I shall tell you a secret, I called myself Moxxie after the shoes moccasins.
...
![]() |
Yes, these are moccasins. |

Jesus*, I am a danger to well dressed society.
Anyway, my friends kept on telling me the many ways my pen name could be misinterpreted so therefore, I present the pictures people have sent me to demonstrate my pen name.

![]() |
Seriously, this dude is creepy. |
![]() |
They have got to be the ugliest reject barbies I have ever seen. |

P.P.S Sorry about the pictures, they are refusing to obey and stay in a straight line.

Urgh
I am now unable to go and watch Benedict Cumberbatch in Star Trek: Into Darkness. If my mum is pissed, you do not want to see how much more pissed I am.

The face of the Earth
I'm actually quite lucky. God managed to grant me two miracles. One more would have been nice but I can't complain.
So if I don't blog after this, you know I either got my laptop confiscated, my mum killed me or I simply forgot about this blog.
My class has a little performance coming up at the end of the year, it isn't open to the public #sorrynotsorry It's a small thing for our parents to showcase what we learnt in English and Lit over the course of the year. And after a long time of being indecisive, we finally decided on a theme:
Friday, 17 May 2013
Okay... apparently I'm a fuck up
I had my exams for this month, so I've been studying, barely any time to blog so excuse the lack of updates.
Let's start from the beginning, shall we?
First of all, I had Chinese. My worst fucking subject so I've been studying and studying for a long time. Come exam time, I was not even fucking prepared. So I sat for my Chinese exam and fuck it all, I was always terrible at it anyway.
Let's proceed: Literature. I thought I did pretty well then my classmates start telling me how they wrote two pages and a bit while I barely wrote a page! A page and a quarter of bloody inferences.
And then I hit fucking rock bottom.
I had science. I never had much problem with this subject but for some inexplicable reason, I fucking lost my head. I have to date lost about 12 marks. Out. Of. Thirty. 30 marks.
30 FUCKING MARKS. AND I HAD BEEN STUDYING SO HARD FOR THIS CAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH THE DISAPPOINT OF SCORING HORRIBLY AND WHAT DID I DO? I FUCK IT ALL UP BECAUSE I COULDN'T READ THE BLOODY QUESTION PROPERLY.
I DIDN'T FINISH MY QUESTIONS, I GOT THE IMAGE AND OBJECT CONFUSED AND ALL OF THIS QUESTIONS ARE WORTH 4 MARKS.
I am a fuck up.
Now, we move on to my last exam: Maths. You would think that with my disappoint, I would know to be more prepared for today.
I fucked up again.
I couldn't finish the questions and I didn't know how to do several questions and I have lost approximately 15 marks.
I would be lucky to pass my exams.
I am a fuck up.

A bunch of news
Oh my gosh.
Soooo... you can't judge me for not blogging for almost a month. You are not to judge.
I have been busy, mid years are coming out and I should be starting my revision for Chinese and stuff. I need to learn all the vocab and Chinese idioms cause of Chinese, every tiny mark counts. I'm the type who will just learn a few days before the exam and this results in me failing by half mark. I am unwilling to go through that again. This is the first time I actually freaked out about my exams about a month earlier then when it actually starts.
I apologise for my English. As I said, I am tired. And busy.
My next piece of news, I am starting dance classes. Yes, after 14 years of living, I will be starting dance classes. What dance, you ask?
Jazz and contempory and maybe, ballet.
Insanity!
I won't lie, I am bloody terrified. Professional dance classes are a whole uncharted territory for me. Leotards, ballet shoes, contemp shoes?! All completely new to me. But I need to dance, because I am going for an award that requires me to complete 20 hours of physical recreation in 8 weeks.
Eight weeks.
That is 2.5 hours of an activity per week. That doesn't sound bad...until you consider most activities with an instructor and stuff are like 1 hour. I have to take at least 3 classes a week about something I have no experience with.
Good job, Hui Ying, good job.
If you have any advice for me, please comment down below.
In other news, my toe is bruised again because I knocked it on the sofa. Ow, ow, ow.
I think that's all my news, I'll update you on the dance thing soon.
Kthxbye
Update 29/4/2013: I will be taking jazz and ballet lessons. And I nearly died, cause all of the equipment will cost $120 give or take. How am I supposed to tell my mum this?! Mum, if you see this, sorry. FML

My Muar Trip :D
24/03
Packed my bag the day before. Clothes, sweats, bras, pads (just in case my period came. It did), insect repellent (Very important!!!), deodorant (I keep on forgetting to use it), jacket and cap!

Excited for my trip to Malaysia!!! |
![]() |
Leaving! |
So.. I went to school and tons of people asked why my shirt was so short. I told them I got my shirt altered but it was a badly done job. That's not the true story. The real story is... I altered it and cut the shirt too short. Well, that takes care of my aspiration to be a fashion designer. *dumps dream in trash* I spent the next one hour goofing around with my friends and camwhoring. All pictures will include me cause frankly, my friends (ahem, RX) look terrifying when they camwhore.
Then, we got on the bus and went to Malaysia. The first place we went was like this store where I bought gum and M&Ms. Then we went to this jungle place where we were greeted by a large set of rules. My personal favourite was this one:
![]() |
Who did they catch and what were they doing? |
By the way, the rule underneath: Do not make excessive noise ;) You guys get it, right? I know you do. High 5, fellow sick minded people!
So we went on through the broadwalk, looking at fugly snails til finally finally we reach the most southern point of Asia. Wow.
Monkey!! And we were turning away, it turned as well and showed us its monkey balls. Gross. By this time, it was actually time for lunch so we went for seafood. I could barely eat anything because I am allergic to seafood and nobody gave a shit.
Then we took a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooong bus ride to Muar which we camwhored even more.
We ate Monster sweets which I didn't know existed still. Monster sweets are my favourite sweets since I was young. That's why Li Xuan's tongue is red. And Ruoxi was being a bimbo and camwhored with a water bottle. And we ate cookies. I LOVE COOKIES.
When we reached Muar, we had tea then we went straight to dinner. Ok, I shall warn you. We camwhored a lot so this post will have pics mostly of us.

This is my other roommate. |

Our hotel room at Muar(: |
26/03
Ahh coffee, the best damn thing in the world. We had breakfast where we all shared our sleeping stories. Apparently, I am a blanket stealer and left my friends to share one small blanket. In my defense, it was cold. Like, my-teeth-can't-stop-chattering cold, alright?
We spent the whole day at the kampong. They gave us food and drinks, yum!
This was when we went to look at their pineapple and palm farms.
When we came back, we played spinning top, weaved the leaf thingy, made a kite, stuff like that.
Not mine. Li Xuan's. Then we had lunch and we went to our "foster family's" house. We stayed there for an hour before going for a tractor ride in the boiling hot sun.
That's Alicia. She's an amazing dancer and I totally heart her. We went to different places and all I remember is : WAH LAO, SO HOT and HEY, FREE FOOD.
Malaysians are very nice, keep on giving us free food but it was also very awkward lah, because I can't speak Malay. I only know some words like, makan, saya, cikgu... Yeah, that's it.
And you know where we went after we got all the free food? For dinner. But dunno why I very hungry and I ate 2 plates. Woah. The whole time I was in Muar, I ate like one plate and veggies during meals and stuff hahaha.
The good thing about the Muar trip is after dinner, we just head back to the hotel. I don't really like it if you make me go out after dinner because all I want to do is sleep!
Head back to the hotel and I filmed the Harlem Shake! Yup yup, I was cool like that but the sad thing is I can't show you guys the video because the video is not in my possession and my friends do not wish to have their video uploaded so must respect their decision lah!
27/03
And before you know it, it is our last day in Muar! After breakfast, we went to a wet market and there were a lot of cats!
And they were oh-so cute! But there was this guy right, he tripped over the kitten! :O And then I was like, "HE KICKED THE CAT!" Obviously I know he didn't but let me be my usual drama queen self lah!
And then we went to JB for lunch, it was again a long ride which everyone but me feel asleep. We had A&W for lunch.
![]() |
My waffle after it was eaten |
And that was it! Good bye, Malaysia and hello, Singapore! :)
I hoped you enjoyed the excessive camwhoring pictures and the lacking details that took me almost a week to write! LOL
